On September 26, “Green Travel, Shine Sanya”-the first delivery of 1,000 units of AION S taxis of GAC AION and the launch ceremony of the Aulton Battery Swap APP service network were successfully held in Sanya, Hainan Province, witnessed by the Sanya Municipal Government, the Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, Industry and Information, and the Bureau of Transportation.

The ceremony, which was included in Sanya's third NEV promotion and training series activities, further accelerated the application of battery swapping innovation ecology for Sanya's operating vehicle industry.

The main guests attending the ceremony included: Fu Nianguo, member of the party group of Bureau of Science and Technology, Industry and Information of Sanya; Wu Yanli, Section Chief of the Traffic Energy and High-tech Industry Section of Developmentand Reform Commission of Sanya City; Kuang Dongnian, Section Chief of the Transportation Section of Sanya Transportation Bureau; Xie Xuefeng, Director of the Sales Planning Department of GAC AION; Zhang Zheng, Director of Taxi Project; Wu Yanli, Section Chief of the Traffic Energy and High-tech Industry Section of Developmentand Reform Commission of Sanya City; Zhao Zheng, General Manager of South China Region of Aulton; Li Xia, Chairman of Shenzhen Songxing Investment Co., Ltd. and Hu Yingchun, General Manager of Hainan Hongrui Passenger Transport Co., Ltd.

In his speech, Fu Nianguo, a member of the party group of Bureau of Science and Technology, Industry and Information of Sanya, said, “This delivery ceremony and the release of the battery swapping network, based on GAC AION, Aulton and Sanya taxi enterprises and other units from all walks of life, to jointly promote the application of the 'vehicle-electricity separation' model in the taxi field, this will provide a model for the construction of green transportation ecology in Sanya, Hainan, and even the whole country.”

Based on the “star” GAC AION S of the current market of pure electric models, Aulton and GAC AION jointly developed a battery swapping version of this vehicle model last year. As the first batch of 400 AION S battery swapping version of vehicles in Sanya, users will only need to spend 20 seconds each time to enjoy Aulton's city-level network of sharing and speedy battery swapping services, which will significantly improve the efficiency of energy replenishment, and the effective time and income of operating vehicle users will be effectively improved.

Xie Xuefeng, Director of the Sales Planning Department of GAC AION, said on site, “I believe that this cooperation will not only enable Sanya citizens to feel the advantages and charm of excellent products of GAC AION, but also promote the development of the NEV industry, and will also become an excellent demonstration case of pure electric taxi cooperation in the country”.

As the earliest enterprise in the world to lay out the battery swapping model, Aulton has laid out 481 battery swapping stations in 24 cities across the country as of August this year, initially establishing a city-level battery swapping service network, and has taken the lead in starting large-scale commercial operation practice, with obvious advantages and status in the industry. By 2025, Aulton aims to establish 10,000 battery swapping stations across the country and provide energy replenishment services for over 10 million NEVs.

Based on the plan, within this year, Aulton will lay out a total of 13 battery swapping stations in Hainan, 10 of which will be located in Sanya, initially to meet the needs of the Sanya city-level battery swapping service network.

For the construction of the aforementioned Hainan battery swapping network layout, Zhao Zheng, General Manager of South China Region of Aulton, said: “Hainan, as a hotbed of NEV development, we hope to continue to join forces with multiple partners, including GAC Group and taxi companies, and continue to accelerate the layout of the battery swapping service network in Hainan, especially in Sanya, under the guidance of the Hainan Provincial and Sanya municipal governments”.

At the ceremony, the officiating guests jointly conducted the launch ceremony of the battery swapping service network. After the vehicle model of AION S battery swapping version was driven into the Aulton Battery Swap APP station and positioned to completion, the battery swapping within 20 seconds process was perfectly demonstrated, which was recognized and praised by the hundred guests on site.

NEV industry, under China big target of “3060” carbon neutrality and carbon emissions, has become a necessary road for China's social and economic development. Hainan is “the front-runner” that firmly promotes the development of NEVs.

As early as 2019, Hainan Province has taken the lead in putting forward the goal of “banning the sale of fuel vehicles” in 2030. Among them, Sanya, as a key pioneering area of clean energy for vehicles in Hainan Province and an internationally renowned tourist city, has formed a domestic leading NEVs ecology within the city. Based on the data, the share of NEVs in Sanya has reached 9%, which is the leading position in the country.
